Disclosure Policy
How we disclose our VANA Group relationship — and why our coverage can never be pay-to-play.
Who publishes WellnessInsider
WellnessInsider is published by VANA Group. VANA Group is also the parent organization of a small number of wellness brands — you will see them referred to as “VANA Group portfolio brands” when they appear in our coverage. We state this plainly rather than treating it as a footnote, because a wellness publication that hides who owns it is a trust problem, regardless of whether the coverage itself is fair.
The merit-first rule
A brand’s relationship with VANA Group confers no editorial advantage. Every brand — VANA-affiliated or independent — is evaluated against the same 12-criterion review rubric before it appears in our coverage or brand directory. A brand does not appear here because VANA Group has a relationship with it; it appears because it earned a place on editorial merit.
There is no mechanism — commercial, contractual, or otherwise — by which a brand can purchase a placement, a positive review, or an omission of a negative finding on WellnessInsider. Editorial decisions are made by our editorial team and are not subject to approval or review by any brand, affiliate, or commercial partner.
How we’re funded
WellnessInsider earns no commission when you buy a product we write about. Product links in our articles and buying guides are plain outbound URLs. They carry no affiliate tracking parameters, no redirect wrappers, and no partner tags, so no purchase you make can be attributed back to us and no revenue reaches us from it. This is enforced in the publishing pipeline, not left to editorial discipline: a product link that carries tracking parameters fails validation before the article can be published.
That matters because the standard wellness-review business model is the opposite. Most product roundups you read are paid per click or per sale, which gives the publisher a direct financial interest in ranking the highest-commission product first. We do not have that interest, because we do not have that revenue.
WellnessInsider is funded by VANA Group, which publishes it. If we ever introduce affiliate links or any other reader-facing commercial revenue, we will update this page and label the links on the article itself before the first one goes live.
How inline disclosures work
When a VANA Group portfolio brand is mentioned in an article, you will see an Editorial disclosure box immediately below the relevant section of that article. The disclosure identifies the brand, names the VANA Group relationship, and reaffirms that inclusion reflects independent editorial evaluation, not a paid placement.
These disclosures are generated per mention — not as a generic site-wide footer — because FTC material-connection guidance requires disclosures to be clear and conspicuous, meaning a reader should encounter the disclosure in the same reading context as the brand mention itself, not discover it only by scrolling to the bottom of the page or reading a separate policy document.
Legal and regulatory basis
Our disclosure practice follows the FTC’s Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising (16 C.F.R. Part 255), which requires anyone with a material connection to a brand they promote to disclose that connection in a clear and conspicuous manner. A material connection includes financial relationships, ownership interests, and family or business affiliations — all of which can exist between VANA Group and the brands in our portfolio.
We comply with these requirements structurally: every promoted brand mention must carry a disclosure before the article can be approved for publication. An article without a required disclosure cannot advance through our editorial pipeline.
Questions about our disclosure practice
If you have questions about a specific disclosure, believe a disclosure is missing or misleading, or want to understand how a particular brand relationship affects our coverage, contact our editorial team. We read every message.
